This training package provides a comprehensive set of materials to strengthen the capacity of health and nutrition workers to deliver disability-inclusive nutrition and feeding support for children under five years old and their mothers.

It brings together two components:

  • Part I, which covers disability-inclusive nutrition and feeding for infants and children and practical support strategies; and
  • Part II, which includes two sessions from the Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) Counseling Training Package for Frontline Workers, focusing on addressing stress and supporting survivors of gender-based violence.

  • Module 3: Nutrition Considerations for Children with Disabilities
  • Module 4: Feeding Difficulties in Infants and Children with Disabilities
  • Module 5: Strategies to Address Feeding Difficulties for Infants with Disabilities
  • Module 6: Strategies to Address Feeding Difficulties for Children with Disabilities (6 months and older)
  • Module 7: Practicing Disability-Inclusive Nutrition & Feeding Support

PART II — IYCF-E Counselling Sessions

  • Session 1: Addressing Stress in Emergencies
  • Session 2: Supporting GBV Survivors in IYCF-E

Each component of the package can be downloaded as a ZIP file that contains all the files required for that module or session (Facilitator Guide – PowerPoint Presentation – Activity Sheets – Handouts). Users may choose to download the full package at once or select individual components below, depending on their needs. To ensure the Download function works properly, we recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Facilitators are encouraged to contextualize examples, terminology, and referral pathways to reflect local systems and available services. Editable Word versions of the files are available upon request at: iycfe@savethechildren.org
